There I said it. If you want to lose weight then you still need to read on. You see, it wasn’t always like this. I started off advertising ‘Weight Loss Hypnotherapy’ and working with women like you.
But the more women I worked with and the more I studied weight loss and body confidence the more I realised that, you are more than likely not going to ever lose weight and keep it off and that the weight cycling is worse for your health than being overweight.
Very few people will tell you this but the studies (lots and lots of studies) show that if you try to lose weight then you will end up heavier than you started. Maybe not in the short term, maybe you will hit your goal initially but probably after 12 months and pretty much definitely after 5 years you will end up weighing more.
You may have read about or even know one or two people who lost weight and kept it off but that doesn’t mean that you can too. Those people are the exception, the 1-2%. They are not the norm.
But so few people want you to know that. They are committed to keeping you coming back over and over again with the promise of an idea that is scientifically proven to fail.
The worst thing you can do if you are overweight is to try to lose weight. The best thing to do is to try to improve your health in other ways, for example through increasing your exercise and eating well but this will not necessarily guarantee weight loss.
If only I had a pound for every time a woman said to me, “ I wish I was still the size I was when I first thought I was fat.” And therein lies the problem. The first attempt at weight loss will almost certainly contribute to your gaining more and more weight over time.
So what is my goal if it’s not to help you lose weight?
Well, I’d like to help you feel good about yourself, in the here and now, exactly as you are. I’d like to help you realise what an amazing woman you are and how your weight has absolutely no bearing on that.
I’d like to help you plan out new healthy habits you want to have, that are not solely focused on weight loss but are focused on keeping you healthy and making your body feel good, every single day.
I’d like to help you feel confident in the clothes that you wear and in the body that you have right here, right now. And I’d like to help you feel happy and fulfilled in your life now, rather than putting it off until after you’ve lost a few pounds.
